Weight training linked to reduced diabetes risk

There are lots of good reasons to lift weights, but who would have thought that diabetes prevention was one of them? Apparently reseachers including Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, saw the possibilities.

Their study, published in August in the Archives of Internal Medicine, found that men who did at least 2 1/2 hours of weight training a week reduced their diabetes risk by more than a third. Read more about it at ABC News or see the New York Times article on weight training as diabetes preventer.
